REVIEW : VEGA, Battlelines (Frontiers Music s.r.l. Release: 8 September 2023)

U.K. melodic rockers VEGA are back with a brand new effort entitled "Battlelines". The new opus is the band's eighth already full-length record and it's going to be released through Frontiers Music this September.

With VEGA you know exactly what to expect; big choruses, crunchy and edgy guitars, powerful vocals, a big sound and tons of melodies! With each and every single record that they released VEGA achieved to captivate the glory sound of the late 80's of bands such as Def Leppard and Bon Jovi along with some newer and modern melodic rock elements that made the trademark of their sound so unique! 

Nick Workman, the singer of the band, says about the new album : "The first two songs we wrote were ‘Gotta Be You’ and ‘Don’t Let Them See You Bleed.’ That was a pretty good start and from there we didn’t stop and found it so easy. The songs just kept coming and we have left overs for album number nine, whenever that will be!” and continues by saying : “Having that feeling that there is something to prove, is always a good place to start”

"Heroes And Zeros", the opener, kicks-off the new opus in a very impressive way while with "Battlelines" we have a typical VEGA song. Plenty of melodies, a great and extremely melodic guitar solo and that chorus that stick in your mind for days!! In "Don't Let Them See You Bleed" we have yet another outstanding moment out of "Battlelines". A more in-your-face track with this modern Def Leppard vibe in it that grabs you and leaves you hungry for more! "33's and 45's", the moodier "Into The Fire" and the beautiful AOR-ish "Not Enough" are all three great tracks; beautiful melodies, some fantastic arrangements and Workman's passionate vocals in front row are the ingedients here! One of the album's highlights is without any doubt the ass-kickin', up-beat and edgier tune of "God Save The King"!!!! 

As I already said above, with VEGA you know exactly what to expect; big, powerful, up-beat, melodic and in-your-face melodic rock at its best!!!
