REVIEW : Daytona, Garder La Flamme (Escape Music, Release date: October 25, 2024)

DAYTONA is a Swedish melodic hard rock/AOR band and "Garder La Flamme" is entitled its debut opus that was released through Escape Music

Fronted by Fredrik Werner (OSUKARU, AIR RAID) and backed by talented musicians from bands like MISS BEHAVIOUR and TIMESCAPE, DAYTONA brings back the glory sound of classic bands of the golden mid 80's, early 90's, melodic hard rock/AOR era with style.

The first highlight of the debut comes with the up-beat and very energetic AOR anthem of "Kelly". This is a classic melodic rock gem that contains excellent performances, some tasteful guitar licks and tons of melodies enough to make you hungry for more. "Through The Storm" is a more straight-forward melodic rock tune with a strong STRANGEWAYS 'touch' in it. In "Time Won't Wait" we are dealing with yet another killer song. More in a FOREIGNER-way this time this tune is just pure melodic rock heaven. The guitars are melodious, the vibe is pure gold and the voice of Werner sounds a lot like Lou Gramm. "Looks Like Rain" is edgier and it's among my personal favorite here while in "Slave To The Rhythm" we have one of the debut's highlights; more in a U.S. flavoured style "Slave To The Rhythm" is just killer!

DAYTONA with its debut opus, "Garder La Flamme", is delivering a classic and very 80's melodic rock gem that contains some excellent tracks, huge melodies, great guitar riffs and soulful performances, If you are a die-hard fan of bands such as TOTO, STRANGEWAYS, HEARTLAND and FOREIGNER then look no further!!

RATING : 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 (9 / 10)
