REVIEW : Radioux City - Soul Survivor (2017)

Gary Brandon (one of the co-founders of White Sister) after his departure of White Sister decided to make his next step. Radioux City was this next step. In 1988, the first batch of demos were recorded. It was slow progress over the next three years creating the lineup of musicians and forming the structure of Radioux City.

Extreme / III Sides To Every Story (1992)

Album number three for U.S. funk metallers of Extreme. With their debut album they offered a fine example of funky hair metal music full of superb guitar work in the vain of the great Van Halen. Their second, "Pornograffiti" was, and still is, a masterpiece of that gerne. Many hit singles, including the mega-successful tune of  "More Than Words", jumped out from that release! Extreme was a band that the heavier fans didn't liked so much and for the 'softer' ones were too funky for their tastes!
For me is one of my all time favourite groups! I just love the guitar work from the great Nuno Bettencourt! This guy is so talented when it comes to riffing and soloing! A very inspired guitarist.

So, as I said, "III Sides To Every Story" was the band's third album. It continued were the "Pornograffiti" stopped. Big and amazing riffs and solos, catchy choruses, a tight musicianship and strong performances. Maybe this one is not a classic like their eponymous "Pornograffiti" but it's a very good one and a more mature release. It has all the unique elements that made this band huge. I really can't find a weak song here. Every track has something special to offer to the listener. Bottom line is that for Extreme fans this is a must have, for the others is a great way to discover a superb band! Buy it!

Electric Boys / Funk-O-Metal Carpet Ride (1989)

Sweden's Electric Boys were one of the first and most celebrated purveyors of the short-lived funk metal phenomenon of the late '80s and early '90s.

Led by charismatic singer and guitarist Conny Bloom, this first effort is an excellent album full of great energetic guitar driven songs, fantastic choruses and great guitar riffs and solos. They sound like something between Extreme, Aerosmith and Saigon Kick with a strong dose of the hair metal sound era.

So if U are into the catchy, hook & riff driven funk/metal....and you like Extreme's first two albums then this album is a must have for your collection.

Extreme / II Pornograffitti (1990)

A masterpiece..and for sure EXTREME's  best effort to date!!Funk-metal with powerfull vocals, amazing guitar work from one of the greatest guitarists, a "big" and fat sound, some really inspired tunes and overall an album for headbanging!!!
Superb, creative, and exhilerating.

"Decadence Dance" starts out with crispy and nasty guitar notes, "When I'm President" is a rapsy, rolling piece of funk metal with a huge guitar riff,"It's (a Monster)" contains one of the album's heavier riffs, and the chorus is simply stunning. But the ultimate BIG hit and gem of the album is "Get the Funk Out"....a huge groove in this one and the chorus simply kicks!!!!

On the lighter side, we find the ultra-MTV- hit "More Than Words". Perhaps one of the most successful 'metal' ballads of that era! "Hole Hearted" is an acoustic mid-tempo rocker with a nice melody. Overall this is a big must have for every heavy rocker fan out there! Buy it.

Extreme--Extreme (1989)

Fantastic debut album by Extreme.Extreme shows its first signs of true creativeness on this debut. It sounds like the perfect "child" of Van Halen but funkier without loosing their own sound. The new guitar "wizard" Nuno Bettencourt shows some incredible skills with some high-tech guitar riffs and solos!!!The whole result is a funk-hair metal disc with some strong songs with rolling beats and prepare us for the huge Pornograffitti album!A number of highlights, including the cutting riffs of "Mutha" and "Flesh N' Blood". Check out the slow but chunky groove to "Kid Ego" ,"Play With Me" closes things out in fast and fun fashion. A great debut album.8,5/10
