REVIEW : NEW HORIZON, Conquerors (Frontiers Music s.r.l. Release: 14 June 2024)

NEW HORIZON is a band that is hailing of Jona Tee (H.E.A.T.) and "Conquerors" is entitled the brand new opus that is going to be released through the Italian music label FRONTIERS this June (14th).

Having already released a great debut record (with Erik Grönwall on lead vocal) NEW HORIZON is ready to make its second statement with a new album featuring the 'mighty' Nils Molin, renowned vocalist of Dynazty and Amaranthe. "Conquerors" presents itself as a thematic anthology, delving into pivotal moments in history and the remarkable individuals who have shaped them.

Upon encountering the band's fresh material, Molin was immediately drawn in, igniting a powerful collaboration. Reflecting on their partnership, Jona Tee shared: " At our first sit down in the studio he said ‘If I'm going to do this, I need to be 100% involved.’ Nils and I have been exploring the possibility of collaborating on a project for some time now. At first, I deemed it unlikely seeing as he’s got plenty on his plate already. However, I had to ask and was happily surprised that he considered it. And when we started bouncing ideas for lyrical themes the path forward appeared crystal clear".

The other musicians that participate on this excellent record are Georg Härnsten Egg on drums, Elize Ryd (Lead vocals on "Before The Dawn"), Love Magnusson (solo guitar on "King of Kings" & "Edge of Insanity"), Daniel Johansson  (solo guitar on "Daimyo" E "Apollo") and Laucha Figueroa (solo guitar on "Shadow Warrior" & "Fallout War"). So, with this excellent musicians on board and with Molin on lead vocals nothing can go wrong!!

The album is pure melodic power metal bliss from start to finish; melodies to die for, soaring vocals from one of the best singers in the melodic hard rock/metal community, a solid as hell musicianship and great tracks are the ingredients here. 

The opener tuen of "Against The Odds" is pure melodic power metalat its best while in "King Of Kings" we have a fast-paced melodic metal hymn! More in a Dynazty-vain sound this track must be played on a maximum volume. Molin sings his heart out here while the harmonies and melodies are larger than life!  

 

"Shaddow Warrior" is a 'classic' 80's epic metal track that takes no prisoners with! The 'heroic' anthem of "Apollo" is a more straight-forward and with a more melodic direction soulful track while in "Messenger Of The Stars" we are dealing with yet another high-class melodic metal beast!  In "Before The Dawn" we have a truly amazing and breathtaking tune; the Celtic 'pinches' along with Elize Ryd magical vocal duties rockets this track to a another level of quality. A wonderful song! "Edge Of Insanity" is HUGE, really this is a kinda of track that blows you away every time you listen to it with its straight-forward hard-hitting rhythm and Molin's passionate vocal lines! 

Bottom line is that NEW HORIZON with its brand new "Conquerors" opus is offering a blasting, heart-bumb melodic power metal masterclass that will excite you definately! Excellent musicianship, extremely talented musicians and great tracks in this unique release!
