REVIEW : LITTLE CAESAR --- EIGHT (2018)

LITTLE CAESAR is back!!!! In my book this U.S. hard rock act had to be bigger back then, no doubt bout that! Their self titled album in 1990 was and still remains one of my all time favorite records. Tracks such as "Down n' Dirty", the huge cover of "Chain Of Fools", "In Your Arms" and "Drive It Home" are all great samples of a band that knew how to deliver ass-kickin' hard rock stuff with a strong dose of blues!!!

INSIDE THE HOLE / Impressions (2014)

Inside the Hole is a Sicilian Rock 'n' Roll/Blues band from Montemaggiore Belsito, a small town located in the hinterland of Palermo. The project has been set up in winter 2009, but only in summer 2010 it took shape and consistence thanks to several concerts in the hinterland, where the band performed some original songs.

Derek Davis is no other than the lead singer of the extraordinary heavy rock band of BABYLON A.D. that made an big impact back in the late 80's, early 90's, U.S. hard rock scene. Nowadays, Davis is releasing his debut opus with Moonshine. Adrian Vandenberg, the guitarist of Whitesnake, is back in business with a new band and a new album. Vandenberg's Moonkings is called the guitarist's new project, and believe me, this will make every single fan of the earlier Whitesnake's works happy! The major thing here is that Adrian with this new release stays loyal to his roots and that means old-fashion blues hard rock stuff with some really cool guitar work and a bunch of some serious ass-kickin' tracks.

BERGGREN KERSLAKE BAND / The Sun Has Gone Hazy (2013)

Well-known Swedish singer, guitarist and keyboardist, with the admittedly incredible voice, STEFAN BERGGREN (M3-Classic Whitesnake, Razorback, Snakes In Paradise & Revolution Road) met the acclaimed drummer LEE KERSLAKE (OZZY, Uriah Heep) for the first time in 2005 in Friedrichshafen, Southern Germany, when Berggren gave some shows with M3 and Kerslake with Uriah Heep. Some years later, the two musicians ended up together playing live in Zurich under the same band, but not under the flag of BKB yet.

DOGFACE / BACK ON THE STREETS (2013)

In the second half of the nineties, he formed Burning Rain and released two amazing bluesy hard rock based albums and during the last years he's deen a member of Whitesnake.

JACKYL / BEST IN SHOW (2012)

It's been already twenty years since the band's eponymous debut album which was a damn fine piece of kick-ass hard rock sound. So, nowadays, and Jesse Dupree and his gang are back with a brand new effort with the title "Best In Show".

FRANK HANNON / SIX STRING SOLDIERS (2012)

Tesla's axeman Frank Hannon released his debut solo album in 2004 and, nowadays, after several years of preparation of new material and gathering a new 'real' band he is releasing the brand new "Six String Soldiers".

GREAT WHITE / ELATION (2012)

Over the last months, it's been a crazy thing with all these lawsuits against the charismatic and original former Jack Russell and the rest of the Great White members as of who has the rights of the Great White name. By far, the rest of the band members won and, finally, they are releasing a new solid album with Terry Ilous (XYZ) on lead vocals.

BRIAN ROBERTSON / DIAMONDS AND DIRT (2011)

It’s not for the first time in the history of rock music that coincidence led to the discovery of hidden treasures: a carrier bag full of music tapes (note: tapes!) turned out to be the basis for "DIAMONDS AND DIRT", the first solo release by Scottish guitarist/composer Brian Robertson.

Brian Robertson said : "I thrust the bag into my friend Søren’s hand and said: ‘Why don’t you listen to these some time when you’re bored. They’re a number of my previously unreleased compositions." Søren Lindberg from Sweden happens to be one of former Thin Lizzy / Motörhead guitarist Brian Robertson’s closest friends and frequently works as his driver when he has equipment which needs transporting. “He had plenty of time to listen to that pile of tapes in his lorry on the way back to Scandinavia,” Robertson remembers, “and he called me as soon as he reached Stockholm: ‘Brian, there’s some brilliant stuff on those tapes. We should make an album of them!’

Lindberg already had a number of musicians in mind: he enlisted two of his country’s most renowned instrumentalists in drummer Ian Haugland (Europe) and bassist Nalley Påhlsson (Treat). Robertson said about the musicians : “They’re great, the best rhythm section I’ve played with since Phil Lynott and Brian Downey.” Leif Sundin (ex-Michael Schenker Group) was recruited as an additional vocalist, and the amazing Liny Wood joined the fold as backing vocalist. “It wasn’t easy to get all these extremely sought-after musicians in one place at the same time, which is why the work on DIAMONDS AND DIRT took longer than originally scheduled. But it was important to us to get the best possible line-up, so we preferred to wait until they could all be there.”

The result is a superb album at the interface of hard rock with definite blues elements and gritty mainstream, wonderfully melodic and full of excellent guitar arrangements. In terms of compositions, the album presents a number of outstanding Robertson numbers, such as the driving title track, the truly intense ‘Passion’, ‘Texas Wind’ with its wonderfully atmospheric beginning, and the powerful ‘Devil In My Soul’ with its awesome wah-wah guitar solo.
