REVIEW : Nightblaze, NIGHTBLAZE (Art Of Melody Music & Burning Minds Music Group, release date: 22-03-2024)

Nightblaze began in 2021 as the brainchild of Italian composer, multi-istrumentalist and producer Dario Grillo (Platens, Violet Sun). His goal was to create a sound in the vain of 80's classic melodic rock/AOR scene.

Rising Italian rock star, Damiano Libianchi (Perfect View), was hired on vocals, and the full line-up was completed by the involvement of Dario's brother, Alex Grillo (Platens, Violet Sun, Verdemela) on drums, and Federica Raschellà (Steel Tyrant, Evil Eyes) on bass.

This is the band's debut opus that is set for release this March (22th) through Art Of Melody Music / Burning Minds Music Group. The CD booklet features introductory liner notes written by Ant Heeks (Fireworks Magazine), while cover art and CD graphics have been developed by Aeglos Art (Wheels Of Fire, Platens, StreetLore, Raintimes, Room Experience).

The first single out of this debut was "Tell Me". An impressive moody AOR gem that impressed me a lot when it came out! A haunting melody, a killer chorus and a crunchy guitar in this really excellent song!! "Take On Me" is one of these tracks that sticks in your mind for days! It includes this sweet and so catchy chorus that can't get off your mind! For sure another great sample out of this debut! "Sudden Blast" is a more fast-paced and edgier while in "Hold On To Me" we have yet another winner here; inspired melodies, great arrangements, smooth vocals and an overall 80's vibe that make this track a totally gem. "Fading Away" is yet another favorite tune. A straight-forward melodic rocker with a moodier, again, vibe in it and an effective chorus that grabs you at once. The last track, "Daughter", is a very beautiful and strongly emotional piano-based tune with a strong message in it.

For sure, this is a very interesting, strong and extremely melodic album that is made with heart and passion based in the golden era of melodic rock/AOR scene. Highly recommended stuff!
