REVIEW : LAST IN LINE --- II (Frontiers Music s.r.l. Release: 22 February 2019)

What started as a reunion jam between DIO's members it seems that turned into a band! Vinny Appice, Jimmy Bain and Vivian Campbell (later in Def Leppard) were Ronnie J. Dio’s co-conspirators and co-writers on the "Holy Diver", "Last In Line" (the album from which they took their name), and "Sacred Heart” albums. Without any doubt all three records are a big part of the metal history.

Shape Of The New Sun is a new melodic heavy rock band from Sweden and "Dying Embers" is entitled their debut album. The band was formed back in 2014 by four talented musicians from the small town of Skara in Sweden. The first single "Something Beautiful / Babylon" was released in February 2016.

REVIEW : Vicolo Inferno “Stray Ideals” (2016)

Vicolo Inferno is an Italian Heavy Rock band and "Stray Ideals" is entitled its brand new album. Vicolo Inferno released its debut EP in 2005, "Fire Coverz", and they toured to promote it. In 2012, the band completed the recordings of its first full-length record, "Hourglass", and next year "Hourglass" saw the light of day.

REVIEW : Suicide By Tigers / SUICIDE BY TIGERS (2016)

The band of Suicide By Tigers is hailing from Sweden and their goal is to play classic and bluesy heavy Rock 'n' Roll stuff. The influences from late 60's, 70's, Southern blues scene are obvious in their music and that's a thing that makes Suicide By Tigers's sound so unique.

KILLERS LODGE / Unnecessary I (2013)

Killers Lodge is a new band but all its members are well-known musicians that have played in several bands. The band consists of John KillerBob (Cadaveria, DyNAbyte, formerly with Necrodeath and Raza de Odio) on lead vocals and bass guitar, Olly Razorback (Denial, Freelance guitar player with several artists such as Sadist, Metal Gang, Trevor, Nerve, Raza de Odio), on guitars, Christo Machete (Dorothy’s Doll. Formerly with Zorn and Raza de Odio) on drums.

NOVATION / WE COME IN PIECES (2011)

NOVATION is a garage/heavy rock band that hails from Natick, MA. They were formed in 2008 by Anthony Santoro, Jack Francis, and Max Petot. In 2009  Brian Cummings came on board as the band's lead singer.

KAMCHATKA / BURY YOUR ROOTS (2011)

This is the fourth album from the Swedish masters of heavy blues rock with a progressive touch, Kamchatka. Outside of Sweden, this powerful trio has made a name for itself touring with Clutch several times. Kamchatka were formed in 2001 by three friends and they started to play some gigs in the local scene. A couple of years later, they decided to record their debut album in their own studio. With the help of Per Wiberg (Spiritual Beggars, ex-opeth), they achieved to sign to a record label and the first album was a fact! In 2007, "Volume II" was the band's second release and after a successful tour with Clutch the band started to record the follow-up album.

TRACER / SPACES IN BETWEEN (2011)

Tracer is a rock band and they are hailing from Adelaide, South Australia. The band was formed by Michael Brown (vocals, guitar), Leigh Brown (vocals, bass) and Andre Wise (drums) in 2004. During the following years, the trio foud success with two independent releases; two international tours, including support slots for Little Red, Children Collide, The John Steel Singers and Cassette Kids; and most recently, a record contract with highly respected Dutch label Mascot Records. So, nowadays, the band is ready to blow us with their new album called "Spaces In Between" which will be released in October 2011.

BIG BANG / SIN RENUNCIA A LA ESPERANZA (2010)

The Big Bang was the event which led to the formation of the universe, according to the prevailing cosmological theory of the universe's early development (known as the Big Bang theory or Big Bang model). According to the Big Bang model, the universe, originally in an extremely hot and dense state that expanded rapidly, has since cooled by expanding to the present diluted state, and continues to expand today!!

Big Bang is also an alternative heavy rock band that hails from Badalona (Barcelona) Spain. The band is together for more thaan ten years. In 2009, they presented their first demo with six new tracks and a new member, Rafa. Nat Team Media was interested in the band and in November 2009 they started to record the tracks of "Sin renuncia a la esperanza".

"Sin renuncia a la esperanza" was produced, recorded and mixed by Francisco Rubiales in Motion Studios in Barcelona, mastered in the prestigious studios of Masterdisk by Andy Vandette (Rush, Porcupine Tree, Breaking Benjamin, W.A.S.P, Deep Purple etc.) with the stamp of Nat Team Media.

All tracks are sung in their mother language, so it's a bit difficult to understand, even if I speak a little bit of Spanish, the subject of the lyrics. The fact is that I really like what I'm hearing from "Sin renuncia a la esperanza". Firstly the guitar work is very good. Sometimes it reminds me a bit of Extreme's newest effort, "Saudades De Rock". "Fiel" is the first track that interested me. It has a nice groove in it and a catchy chorus line. "Hay Suenos" is antoher very good tune from this album. It's a bit more aggressive, especially in the chorus, and has some interesting heavier guitars. "La Espiral" it's funkier again and  "Dime" is an excellent one! "Dime" has some jazzy-fusion elements in it and it's one of my personal favourites!

All in all this is a really cool release from Big Bang! The mix of several kinds of music styles maybe confusing some times but the final result is overall good. My humble opinion is that this band has the skills to go to a higher level in the near future.

Dokken / Back for the Attack (1987)

This is the heaviest and best album from Dokken. This pure heavy rock sound is absolutely fine and once again Lynch smokes!!!!!!

The songs on this disc are more intricate in the songwriting- more riffs and grooves. For me, and I think for many people, this album is a classic one. Trademark is the guitar sound of Mr. Lynch and the nice high-pitched Don's vocals.Definitely a must for guitar players to listen to and own. Every song in this album kicks ,no fillers here, from start to finish. A HUGE release. 10/10

widowmaker / blood & bullets 1992

This is Dee Snider's, former of Twisted Sister,band!!  Heavy songs, but a bit more on the commercial side. An excellently mixed album, with solid drum and bass work behind Al Pitrelli's Lynch/DeMartini style riffing.Highlights include "Gone Bad", "Calling For You", "The Lonely Ones", and the evil "Reason To Kill". The sound is a mix of Lynch Mob/ Dokken but sometimes a bit heavier.The guitar work by Al Pitrelli is amazing!!!8/10

Firehouse / Firehouse (1990)

Sharp guitars, hard riffs, smooth vocals---welcome to the debut from Firehouse. An outstandig release and a classik album!Catchy without fully falling into the "glam" stereotype from the 80's, but at the same time biting influences from Dokken/Slaughter/Lynch Mob are apparent. "Rock on the Radio," the disc opener will kick your asses!!!!! "All She Wrote" rolls with a sing-along chorus, and a sharp riff and heavy chug. "Shake & Tumble" brings another great riff, as it's a cruising, stop-and-go attitude-driven romp! For crazy all night party...."Oughta Be a Law" & "Lover's Lane" are for ya! "Overnight Sensation" and "Helpless" may be the toughest tracks on the disc, with mean razor chops, and dark heaviness dripping throughout. The ballad "Love of a Lifetime," is great---emotional, but powerfull!

badlands / badlands 1989

This is an excellent album! Well played heavy rock with a strong dose of "dirty" blues stuff and we have an amazing sound/album! Lee easily shows as much talent in this new light as he ever did with the Ozzy in fact, the blues element has only raised my level of respect for the man."High Wire" starts you with a nice opening riff, "Dreams in the Dark" ,"Winter's Call" , and the chorus of "Dancing on the Edge" is especially strong.Overall a MUST for everyone........10/10
