REVIEW : Later Sons, Rise Up (Pride & Joy Music Release: 21 July 2023)

Later Sons is a new melodic rock band that consists of former LIONCAGE musicians Thorsten Bertermann (v) and Torsten Landsberger (dr). The other members of the band are Markus Knubbe (g, AVELON), Arvid Lukas (b, ex-LIONCAGE, SHE BITES) and Bülent Sezen (d, ex-LIONCAGE). 

This debut, "Rise Up", showcases the full range of both melodic hard rock and AOR influences of everybody involved. Smooth and powerful vocals, some really amazing guitar solos, a tight musicianship and solid tracks are the ingredients of this excellent opus. 

"Never Surrender" is just brilliant! Heavier with a killer chorus in it this track is among my personal favorites out of "Rise Up". The ultra late 80's "Lady Rock" must be played on a maximum volume while in the moodier "Last Freedom" and the much heavier "Family Affair" we can find two more highlights out of this debut release! "Heaven" is a nice and very emotional acoustic ballad while in "Hometown Girl" we have a killer up-beat melodic rock gem! 

After several spins of "Rise Up", I have to say that this is a true and very old-fashioned way melodic rock/hard rock album that will light up your day with good vibes!
