REVIEW : REMEDY, PLEASURE BEATS THE PAIN (Escape Music, Release Date : 24/5/2024)

Two years ago a new sensation act from Sweden REMEDY released its debut opus, "Something That Your Eyes Won't See", and achieved to gain a strong feedback from both fans and music press. Nowadays, the band is back in business with its brand new effort entitled "Pleasure Beats The Pain" through Escape Music

Remedy consists of Robert Van der Zwan (vocals, guitars), Roland Forsman (guitars, backing vocals) Jonas Dicklo (bass, backing vocals), Fredrik Karlberg (drums) and Jonas Γ–ijvall (keyboards). As with their debut this one is also mixed and mastered by the 'mighty' Erik Martensson (ECLIPSE, W.E.T.).

Remedy with its debut opus delivered some really excellent and catchy melodies, clever and memorable choruses, edgy guitars, powerful performances and solid tracks that all the above left me with a big promise that the future was bright for this 5-piece Sweden band. The truth is that the new record fullfilled every expectation that I had from this band regarding the fine debut; the memorable choruses are here, the sharp guitars are here, the powerful vocals are also here and in general every little thing out of "Pleasure Beats The Pain" will fit the bill for you! Simple like that!

"Crying Heart", the opener, kicks-off things here with a very Eclipse-esque vibe while with "Moon Has The Night" and "Sin For Me" we are dealing with two more standouts out of the new album. "Angelina" is a killer tune! More AOR-ish with a killer harmonic line in it and with a chorus line to die for!! "Caught By Death" is slightly heavier and 'darker' while with "Poison" we have yet another winner out of "Pleasure Beats The Pain". The chorus, the bad-ass groove, the vibe, the guitars....everything here is flawed to perfection!! Check out also the 80's and more fast-tempo tune of "Girl's Got Trouble" and turn on the volume on 10!!!!!

The sure thing is that REMEDY with albums like this one is building fast a strong reputation around the fans of the new wave melodic hard rock/edgy AOR scene!! Well done!!
