In 2010 KIRK got together again, with drummer Philipp Eichenberger from Legenda Aurea, to replace Vito Cecere. Drawing from a decade of honed skills and experience garnered as members of various internationally successful recording and touring outfits, KIRK rapidly morphed into a powerful melodic hard rocking monster. The writing came easy also, melodies flowed, riffs crunched and about a year later KIRK were ready, willing and able to enter the studio to record a brand-new album. They solicited the expert guidance of Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69, Unisonic, Khymera), also the producer of Angra, Eden’s Curse, Godiva, Krokus, and countless more, including KIRK‘s debut album “The Final Dance“, over a decade ago. The resulting album, entitled “Masquerade” will be released worldwide on the legendary heavy metal label Mausoleum Records.

British rockers FURYON will return next week to Black Dog Sound Studios in Atlanta, US to record their sompohore yet-untitled studio album. Once again, the album will be engineered and produced by US producer RICK BEATO (SHINEDOWN, FOZZY) and his team.

Singer Matt Mitchell says: “We’ve worked real hard behind the scenes to make this possible. There were moments I wasn’t sure it would happen but it is, and there are some killer tunes!”

New Gotthard album “Bang!” will be released on April 4.

The year starts with a Big Bang! Rock fans can rejoice, because Gotthard will release the new album with the title “Bang!” In addition to Musikvertrieb in Switzerland, for the first time, we have Pias (the rest of the world) and Marquee Inc (Japan) as new distribution partners on board.
Musically, we can be pleased to have 100% Gotthard, since Leo Leoni and Charlie Bauerfeind are the production team for earthy hard rock, pure Gotthard spirit and wonderful rock melodies melding together.

“BANG!” began like its predecessor “Firebirth” - (number 1 in the Swiss charts, number 9 in the German) – in the band's own Yellow House Studios in Lugano in autumn/winter 2013. It reproduces the earlier Gotthard times and transports them into 2014.

Mix engineer Ronald Prent is responsible for the topical and appropriate polish, as he mixed the new album. The Dutchman, who is at home in the famous Wisseloord Studios, has already presented his expertise in the albums “Lipservice” and “Domino Effect”. “We got to know him as unbelievably competent and tasteful”, said Leo Leoni. “You can see that he loves rock music and knows how to present the sound. He understood then straight away what we wanted and how we should sound. This time, he has shown us his expertise again.” No wonder, after all Prent has worked in the studio with bands such as the Scorpions, 3 Doors Down, Def Leppard and Within Temptation.

For singer Nic Maeder, “Bang!” is not only his second album with Gotthard, but also the convincing proof that he belongs in the band, that he has become one of them and his voice and his qualities as a songwriter are indispensable.
The fans and collectors are not the only ones to be happy: Apart from a standard jewel case, the album will be presented in a classy digipack version, with 2 bonus tracks and also on vinyl.

DEF LEPPARD , The Biography

In many ways, Def Leppard were the definitive hard rock band of the '80s. There were many bands that rocked harder (and were more dangerous) than the Sheffield-based quintet, but few others captured the spirit of the times quite as well. Emerging in the late '70s as part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Def Leppard actually owed more to the glam rock and metal of the early '70s, as their sound was equal parts T. Rex, Mott the Hoople, Queen, and Led Zeppelin. By toning down their heavy riffs and emphasizing melody, Def Leppard were poised for crossover success by 1983's Pyromania, and skillfully used the fledgling MTV network to their advantage. The musicians were already blessed with photogenic good looks, but they also crafted a series of innovative, exciting videos that made them into stars. They intended to follow Pyromania quickly but were derailed when their drummer lost an arm in a car accident, the first of many problems that plagued the group's career. They managed to pull through such tragedies, and even expanded their large audience with 1987's blockbuster Hysteria. As the '90s began, mainstream hard rock shifted away from their signature pop-metal and toward edgier, louder bands, yet they maintained a sizable audience into the late '90s and were one of only a handful of '80s metal groups to survive the decade more or less intact.

Bruce Bouillet releases trailer for up coming album

Guitarist Bruce Bouillet is a player who consistently delivers albums that are well written, heavy, dynamic and emotional. He has enjoyed a successful career for the past couple of decades as both a sought after player, and a fixture within the Los Angeles studio scene. He returns in 2014 with a new band The Order Of Control, and a self-titled album on Mascot Label Group's Music Theories imprint. The moniker directly references the hierarchy of control, which Bouillet see as "the invisible force that pulls the strings around us."

’A Day In Nashville’ is a welcome throwback of an album. Robben Ford’s latest release stands out as a true old school project for a variety of reasons. The sly vocalist-guitarist recorded the entire album in just a day, which is the anomaly by today’s recording standards.

“It just doesn’t happen today,” Ford said. “Nine songs in one day, all new music. That normally takes some time. But I credit the musicians I worked with. I sent demos to them with me singing and playing on acoustic guitar. I sat down and thought if I can pull this off, wouldn’t that be something.” Ford pulled it off courtesy of the work he put in and due to an exceptional bunch of musicians. Guitarist Audley Freed (Black Crowes), keyboardist Ricky Peterson(David Sanborn), bassist Brian Allen (Jason Isbell), drummer Wes Little (Sting) and trombonist Barry Green (Tony Bennett) helped make ‘A Day In Nashville’ a reality. You can’t pigeonhole ’A Day In Nashville’ which is a blues/R&B hybrid, with a tinge of jazz tossed into the sonic potpourri for good measure.

SNAKEYES / Welcome To The Snake Pit (EP-2013)

SnakeyeS is a new heavy metal band that was originally founded by Jose Pineda, of the Spanish band SPHINX. It's been only three years since 1974, when Pavlov's Dog were celebrated the highest signed newcomerband ever since, ready and being expected to climb the peak of rockmusic. Classics such as Julia and Song Dance, plus David Surkamp's incredible vocal performance branded their iconic release Pampered Menial in 1975. But the band started to fall apart already when they recorded their 2^nd album At The Sound Of The Bell. Violin player Sigfried Carver had already left (that's where the title „Has Anyone Here Seen Sigfried?“ comes from). 1977, during the recording sessions of Has Anyone Here Seen Sigfried, the band finally split.

Frustrated and burned out David Surkamp and Douglas Rayburn took the unready tapes to New York and finished the work with contributions of Elliot Randall and Jeff Baxter of Steely Dan. Columbia Records anyway refused the release. The musicians received a cassette copy in 3^rd class sound quality. Since then the original mastertapes were believed to be lost.

This news has been a long time coming. Secretly EDGUY have sneaked into the studio to record the follow up to their chartbreaking 2011 album "Age Of The Joker" (eg. no. 3 in the German album charts). The band has issued the following brief statement from the studio:

“We have focused on what makes this band unique and recorded what we believe is going to be the strongest & heaviest album this band has ever recorded. We didn't waste any time with updates or distractions. There is no doubt, that this album is going to be the album we'll be measured against in the future. And it makes us proud to say that as a band that has been existing for over 22 years now, fully aware that the best is yet to come.“

The album is in the mixing process right now and will be out in April. Details will be revealed soon.

MÖTLEY CRÜE: 'RIP: All Bad Things Must Come To An End'

MÖTLEY CRÜE will hold a special event in Los Angeles on January 28 under the banner "RIP: All Bad Things Must Come To An End". The band is expected to announce the first details of its farewell tour, which will likely last for a couple of years.

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx was asked in an October 2013 interview with RollingStone.com about the time table for the band's eventual farewell tour, which singer Vince Neil said could begin as early as May 2014.

"We haven't decided when that is, we're talking about that," Sixx said. "It'll happen, but we don't know when it will happen.

"The most important thing about a farewell tour is that the band doesn't lie to the fans, and the band doesn't tour and then come back years later. That's what's important for us, planning what's the right time to go out.
