This debut opus contains ten amazing and ultra-catchy melodic rock gems that are made for your ear pleasure only!!! Ray Of Light is delivering a superb slice of pure Euro melodic hard rock/AOR stuff that references influences from bands such as FRONTLINE, GUILD OF AGES and some HAREM SCAREM as well. I'm really amazed by the vocals of Gregg Cromack here; this guy is doin' an amazing job and take the final result to a higher level. The rhythm section is just solid as rock and Mr. Wartmann's guitar licks are out of this world! I mean just listen to his solos and riffs and you'll understand what I'm talkin' about here.
"Falling To Pieces", the opener, is the first highlight here that includes a nice groove, some heavy guitars and a cool chorus line. For sure a great apetizzer of what's to follow. "Ray Of Light" is a more fast-paced rocker with a killer guitar solo by Wartmann while in "Alive" the band shows off its influences from the golden late 80's era of melodic hard rock. I just love the hook and chorus here!! "City Of Angels" has a more commercial vibe and some excellent harmonies enough to make you push the repeat button again and again! "Best Of Me" and "Frontline" are both some excellent samples of pure melodic hard rock bliss. Just check out aslo the brilliant and more AOR-ish tune of "How Long" with its really catchy chorus!!
RAY OF LIGHT with their debut "Salute" achieved to release an amazing opus all the way! A really fine and solid debut album that impressed me at once and left me hungry for more. Just do a favor to yourselves and buy this gem asap! One of the finest debuts that I had the privilege to listen to for a long time!
