STONELAKE / MARCHING ON TIMELESS TALES (2011)

STONELAKE are not  newbees in music business. "MARCHING ON TIMELESS TALES" is the band's fifth release and I can assure you that this is a very interesting effort in the Melodic Hard Rock/Metal scene. The fact is that I was never a big Stonelake fan even if I like some of their previous works. Their sound is somewhere between Melodic Metal with a strong dose of Euro Melodic Hard Rock (melodies, catchy choruses, e.t.c.) but, also, some proggy elements as well that make their sound very interesting. Their last work which was titled " Shades Of Eternity", in 2009, it was a well-crafted album and left me hungry for some more. It was an album with very good arrangements, Peter Grundstrom's high-pitched vocal lines and a solid production.

So, the album starts strongly with the heavy rockin' dynamite "Red Canyon". Some really strong guitar riffing along with the ala Tony Harnell vocals are showing that Stonelake are here to deliver a strong release. "Liar", "Snakechild", the fantastic "Fool With No Denial" and "Enter The Temple" are all samples of how good this band is. Everything here is perfectly balanced and, except of a couple of average tunes, imo, the album rocks!

Overall, this is not the album of the year, or, maybe, will not be a future classic! The fact is that this album rocks and it rocks with a very good way with its passionate performances, good guitar work and the tight arrangements.
