REVIEW : Stamina – System Of Power (2017)

Stamina is the brainchild of the Italian guitarist, songwriter and producer Luca Sellitto. The band combines perfectly the melodic power metal sound with some progressive 'touches' but, also, the classic heavy rock sound. Since the beginning, Stamina wanted to create a unique style and to give a something 'special' to the fans of the above mentioned music styles.

The band has already released three records featuring many well-known musicians such as Henrik Brockmann (ex Royal Hunt, Evil Masquerade), Kenny Lubcke (ex Narita, André Andersen, backing vocalist of Royal Hunt), Göran Edman (ex Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum, Brazen Abbot, etc.) and Nils Molin (Dynazty) and nowadays its ready to unleash album number four with the title "System Of Power".

The new opus kicks-off with "Holding On". A song that represents the style of Stamina in a perfect way. Melodic power metal with attitude and excellent guitar lines in it!! Alessandro Granato's vocals fit perfectly and the final result is overall solid. "One In A Million" is a track that I liked the most here; it includes a more straight forward melodic metal sound in it and a chorus line to die for!! "Love Was Never Meant To Be" features a more 'technical' and a kinda of progressive vibe in it but without loosing any of its melody with, again, a killer hook and chorus. "Why" is yet another highlight out of the new record. Heavy enough with a haunting melody in it and a more 'theatrical' air this tune is among my favorites from "System Of Power".

In short, Stamina strikes back with a solid record that will please every single fan of the classic melodic power metal scene but, also, fans of bands such as Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force, Dream Theater, Royal Hunt, Angra and many more.
