On one hand, Mike Slamer is a totally genius musician. He is a producer, a unique guitarist and, of course, he can write some timeless songs. He participated in many great bands such as Steelhouse Lane, Seventh Key, Slamer, and Terry Brock, and we can’t forget his work in the 80’s with Streets (featuring Kansas singer Steve Walsh) and the 70’s with City Boy.
On the other hand, we have Andrew Freeman. With his amazing performance on the Last In Line debut album, he turned heads not only with his great vocal performances, but specifically because he put his own stamp.
The collaboration of these two musicians created a really solid hard rock album with the title Devil's Hand that is gonna be released through Frontiers Music s.r.l. this December.
More or less, Devil's Hand brings back in my mind Slamer's previous recordings with bands like Steelhouse Lane, Seventh Key and his personal brilliant opus "Nowhere Land". After some spins of this new record, I have to say that I personally enjoyed every single moment here. The guitar playing of Mike Slamer is simply breathtaking and inspirational. His solos and riffs fill in every song, every hook, every damn chorus here. It rockets this project (hopefully a band with future releases...) to the sky. Of course, Anderw Freeman's performances are the cherry on top! This guy can for sure sing!!! His rough, powerful and soulful voice puts more muscle in every song of Devil's Hand.
Highlights here? Let me think; the whole album is a highlight on its own! But if I had to choose a few that would be "Alive", "Falling In", "Another Way To Fly", "Rise Above It All", "Devil's Hand" and "Heartbeat Away".
Devil's Hand is a true heavy rock album full of soaring/powerful vocals thanks to Anderw Freeman's performances, amazing guitars thanks to Mike Slamer and, of course, it is an album that sounds like a million dollars bucks!!!
