REVIEW : Sebastien / Dark Chambers Of Déjà-Vu (2015)

SEBASTIEN is a melodic power metal band with some symphonic and progressive influences. The group was born upon the roots of another heavy metal group, NAVAR. In November 2009, the band went to Grapow Studios (Slovakia) to record the debut album with the title "Tears Of White Roses" which was produced by Roland Grapow (MASTERPLAN, ex-HELLOWEEN).


The album feat. an impressive list of guests such as Amanda Somerville (AVANTASIA, KISKE/SOMERVILLE), Apollo Papathanasio (ex-FIREWIND), Doogie White (ex-RAINBOW), Fabio Lione (RHAPSODY OF FIRE), Mike DiMeo (ex-MASTERPLAN, ex-RIOT), Roland Grapow (MASTERPLAN, ex-HELLOWEEN) and Tore Moren (ex-JORN LANDE).

In 2011, Sebastien went on tour with EAGLEHEART (CZ) and FLOWERWHILE (CZ). Over the next years, the band toured and played with some big names such as AXXIS, Jorn Lande and Circle II Circle. In November of 2014, the band started the recordings of the new album (again with Roland Grapow) and, nowadays, Sebastien is back with the new effort which is entitled "Dark Chambers of Déjà vu".

The new album kicks-off impressively with the stunning tune of "Stranger At The Door". A song that grabs you at once with its power, attitude and its hunting melody. The vocals are powerful, aggressive and emotional and that variety gives the extra flavor! "Crucifixion Of The Heart" is yet another highlight here! This is a more straight forward song that includes a brilliant guitar work, tons of melody and a catchy hook and chorus line to sing-a-long. "Lamb Of God" is a 'darker' one, almost cinematic with a melancholic vibe in it and (again) a superb guitar solo!!! In "Sleep In The Glass" the progressive elements make their appearance stronger while in "Man In The Maze" we are dealing with a really huge modern melodic power metal anthem that is build for big arenas!!!! Listen to the classic heavy tune (the heaviest of the record) of "My Deepest Winter" and you'll discover a great band/record all the way!! The album, also, features two live tracks.

Really blown away by these guys here!!!! Sebastien with this album make clear that they are aiming for bigger things, no doubt 'bout that! A powerful album that includes some really excellent songs, amazing performances, excellent guitar parts, a tight musicianship and a solid production!!! A true highlight for 2015!!!
