REVIEW : THE MURDER OF MY SWEET / Beth Out of Hell (2015)

The Murder of My Sweet is a Swedish cinematic melodic metal band founded in 2007 by drummer and producer Daniel Flores. The music is basically inspired by movie scores, film noir storytelling and bands like Queen, E.L.O and Genesis, presented with a strong modern vibe in it and a heavy sounding production.

2009 was the year that The Murder Of My Sweet released its debut opus, "Divanity" and achieved to receive a great feedback from both press and fans. The first single, “Bleed me Dry”, reached a peak position of #14 on the Swedish international singles chart. “Bye, Bye Lullaby” was released in 2012. On that album, original members Flores and Rylin were joined by Christopher Vetter on guitars and Teddy Westlund on bass. The album featured guest spots from some of Sweden’s premiere metal musicians: Jesper Stromblad (In Flames), Peter Wichers (Soilwork) and Fredrik Akesson (Opeth).

So, nowadays, the band is back with its third release and probably its best album to-date. "Beth Out Of Hell" includes all the elements of the band's previous two albums and these are : the solid production, a dark and, at the same time, epic vibe, great arrangements, plenty of melodies and, most of all, the superb performances by Angelica Rylin. After a short but intense intro, the album kicks off with "The Awakening" that leads you into The Murder Of My Sweet's world. This is a strong, heavy and almost progressive tune with a sweet chorus line that grabs you immediately.

"Always The Fugitive" is one of the album's highlights! It's a modern heavy rock monster that takes no prisoners and when it comes to chorus it's simply amazing! "Still" marks the greatness of this band regarding the mix of the symphonic elements with the AOR pinches while in "Tide After Tide" we have another winner here. This track is dark, melancholic and melodic and it's among my personal favorites from "Beth Out Of Hell".  "Heaven Succumb" is yet another interesting moment.

All in all, The Murder Of My Sweet with "Beth Out Of Hell" achieves to create an extremely interesting concept album that it worth the three years wait! A tight musicianship. soaring vocals, great songs, great ideas and a solid production are some of the ingredients of this musical!!!Highly recommended!
