The female-fronted band of Godyva is releasing its third opus with the title "Alien Heart". Godyva exists since 2001 and since then has released an EP, "Advent", and two full-length albums "In Good And Evil" and "Planetarium".

The band's newest member is the guitarist G.G. Gohm who is doin' an excellent job right here regarding the guitar parts. The sound of the album is moving to the band's 'safe' Gothic paths of their previous recordings; atmospheric Gothic melodic metal with 'punchy' and speedy guitars and with the 'ghost' of Lacuna Coil to wander in all over the album (without loosing their own identity). The proggy elements are giving the extra flavor but, also, you can find some new age pinches as well. I have to admit that even if I'm not a big fan of this gerne, I like most of the songs here. The vocals are very good, the band is tight and the production is really solid. The opening tune of "Apocalypse Fire" is simply stunning!!! A very dynamic start and a great appetizer of what's coming up next (even if the rest of the tracks are not good as this particular one). Other highlights here are the catchy tune of "The Light", the self titled "Alien Heart" and "I Stay Here".

All in all, this is a very interesting release all the way. Godyva presents a solid album that will be a must have for each fan of Gothic/Power metal scene. Great arrangements, very good melodies and solid performances make this a truly recommended release.
