REVIEW : ECLIPSE, Megalomanium II (Frontiers Music s.r.l. Release: 20 September 2024)

Swedish melodic hard rockers ECLIPSE are back in business wih their brand new opus entitled "MEGALOMANIIUM". The new album is going to see the light of day this September (20th) through the Italian label FRONTIERS MUSIC.

Following on from the release of "MEGALOMANIUM" opus last September, ECLIPSE are ready and armed to unleash their new record that is going to thrill their fans around the world. 

"This band is on a continuous journey trying to find new avenues to explore. Having said that, Megalomanium II is probably closer to what people mostly associate Eclipse with. It’s filled to the brim with large choruses, beautiful melodies and some amazing guitar playing. I’m totally unbiased, by the way” Magnus Henriksson states about the new release. 

The new record kicks-off with the heavy and in-your-face "Apocalypse Blues" A track that was released as an exclusive 7’’ vinyl  a few months ago and it's what the fans wanted to hear; ass-kickin' and straight-forward heavy rock anthem! Nothin' more nothin' less! It's pure ECLIPSE! The next couple of songs, "The Spark" and "Falling To My Knees" are,also, both 100% ECLIPSE; the choruses, the positive and up-beat vibe and, of course, the sound. Both tracks are movin' to the bands' well-known paths of the last couple releases. 

"All I Want" is a song that is more 'modern', more fan but, believe me, it's one of the best tracks out of this new opus. It's one of these songs that I'm gonna have on repeat for days. "Still My Hero" is a tune that was released as a single a couple of days earlier and it's a killler one! It is a song that Erik wrote for his father and includes some really emotional lyrics that will touch your soul.  "Until The War Is Over" is again a solid rocker while in "Pieces" we are dealing with a cracker of a song; again this modern and edgy rocker will make your day with its amazing melody and it's fantastic rhythm!! I really love the direction of Eclipse, regarding of their sound, in some songs here! The song that closes this new album is entitled "One In A Million". A darker, heavier and more epic song here but again with a more diverse sound that makes it another highlight! 

ECLIPSE did it again! Yes, with this band you know exactly what you are going to listen to with each and every release. High-quality, up-beat, melodic and ass-kickin hard rock stuff. With the last couple of releases the band doesn't hesitate and adds new elements in their sound. Erik Martensson is a musical genious and all these years with his main band, Eclipse, but also with his projects prooves it in a glorious way. "MEGALOMANIUM II" is a great hard rock album that can't be missed by any fan of this genre!
