FASTWAY / EAT DOG EAT (2011)

FASTWAY is the band that was created, in 1983, by MOTΦRHEAD's guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke. Their self-titled album received some great reviews back then and the band achieved to build a strong reputation around it's name. So, the next year Fastway released the "All Fired Up" album which was and still is a classic hard rock stuff and it was the band's ticket to success! They, also, followed three more good-enough efforts, a couple of live albums and a best-of!

Nowadays, the band has comeback after almost 21 years with the brand new "Eat Dog Eat". Fastway was never a 'fashion' band. They were playing old-fashioned pure hard rock with attitude and Fast eddie Clarke's brilliant guitar lines. This time they have a new singer, the charismatic Toby Jepson (ex-Little Angels), who is doing a brilliant work on vocals. "Deliver Me" is the opening track from the new album and it's a strong hard rockin' tune with some passionate vocals by Toby Jepson. "Fade Out" is a typical Little Angels-ish track (!!!) and "Dead And Gone" is huge! It has a heavy bluesier sound with feeling. Excellent stuff! "l
Leave The Light On" and "Loving Fool" are both great rockers with catchy choruses and superb guitars.

Overall, this is a very interesting release from Fastway. In fact, every single track is well-played with attitude and feeling and, most of all, the amazing guitar work from Fast Eddie! At this point, I have to say that the thing that impressed me the most in this effort is the vocal performances by Toby Jepson! The guy really shines here! He is singing his heart out and reminds me his glory days with the huge Little Angels. Maybe it's time to thing a reunion with the Angels, don't you think?
