VOODOO SIX / FALLING KNIVES (EP, 2011)

Voodoo Six is a new rising British modern hard rock band. "Falling Knives" is the band's new EP that will be released in digital format in November 28. The EP which will be a special limited edition release, will be available to fans until the end of February.

This new EP comes following the success of last year's album "Fluke?" which was mixed by uber studio enginner Mike Fraser (Aerosmith, Y.J.Malmsteen and AC/DC among others) boasting the talent of the new frontman Luke Purdie. So what we have here are three brand new tracks as well as three re-worked and re-recorded versions of tracks of their debut release.

The EP starts with the rocking tune of "Falling Knives". An aggressive hard hittin' track with powerfull vocal lines and a solid guitar work. In "Sharp Sand", we find some 'modern' hard rocking elements with heavier guitars and Luke Purdie's stunning performances. I think this guy has an excellent vocal range and in some parts reminds me of Chris Cornell. The other new track is called "Stop". Perhaps the best of the new ones, "Stop" has a blusier and old-fashioned rocking way and a 'dirty' sound in it. Excellent! From the three re-recorded tracks here the most impressive, imo, is "No Friend Of Mine" which has a damn fine groove in it and a killer guitar work!

Overall, this is a very interesting release from Voodoo Six. These guys have a natural talent and with a strong work I'm sure that their future is looking bright! Well done!!!
