REVIEW : Rain Or Shine --- The Darkest Part Of Me (Perris Records, Release: 15 February 2019)

Formed back in 2013, Greek melodic hard rockers Rain Or Shine debuted last year with the really excellent "Seize The Night". The debut was, and still remains, a damn fine sample of classic hard rock stuff mixed with some modern rock elements that left me hungry for more. This 'more' has finally come with Rain Or Shine's second opus titled "The Darkest Part Of Me".

The two pieced band of Steve S.R. (vocals, guitars, bass, keyboards) and Andy R. McCormick (drums, percussion) deliver an excellent, once again, slice of modern hard rock stuff in the vain of Bon Jovi (latest works), Winger and, in some parts, Talisman.

The opening tune of "The Darkest Part Of Me" is an okay tune, nothing more nothing less, but nothing really breathtaking. But with the next track of "Top Of The World", Rain Or Shine comes to bring the house down!! A blasting, fists up on the air modern rocker that must be played on maximum volume. I think that Bon Jovi would die to write a chorus like this one! With "New Love" you will listen some J.S. Soto (Talisman) influences while in "Around The Corner" the band delivers a cool modern rock song. The groovier and edgier "Shot Of Life" is yet another killer track and in "We All Back Down" we are dealing with a huge and more late 80's hard rock anthem that is made for big arenas! Just check out the bombastic chorus line and you'll get the picture of what I'm talkin' about. The beautiful mid-tempo of "Back On Track" is another favorite of mine while in "Into The Storm" rocks good.

In one hand, if you love the classic 80's hard rock scene with an updated and more modern sound, then Rain Or Shine's brand new album is a must have. But, on the other hand, if you love the big choruses, the edgy guitars and the beautiful harmonies "The Darkest Part Of Me" is, also, a must have.

Rating : 9/10
