REVIEW : Thundermother, Heat Wave (Release Date : July 31, 2020)

If you don't already know these four bad-ass female heavy rock band, then do yourself a favour  and check out them asap! They sure know how to kick-off a party with their powerful, up-beat and in-your-face heavy rock 'n' roll stuff: that's a fact.

I had the privilege to see Thundermother live in a festival, here in Greece, and I have to admit that they gave a hell of a show. Especially the lead guitarist Filippa Nässil's show left me breathless and hungry for more.

But let's take things from the start and see, for those who didin't notice Thundermother till now, a small bio about who these girls are. Apart from Filippa on lead guitars, the band consists of Guernica Mancini (Vocals), Emlee Johansson (Drums) and Majsan Lindberg (Bass). Thundermother is alive and kickin' since 2010 and till now it has already released three solid albums, 'Thundermother' (2018)/ 'Rock 'n' Roll Disaster' (2015) and "Road Fever' (2015), and played in many gigs around the world.

Nowadays Thundermother is ready to unleash its brand new opus entitled "Heat Wave" that is gonna be released this July. The production of the new opus is handled by Søren Andersen. An experienced producer and gifted guitarist who has worked for Glenn Hughes, MikeTramp, Dave Mustaine, Tommy Aldrige, etc.

"Heat Wave" is literally a thunderous 'wave' of pure and ass-kicking heavy rock stuff that includes soaring vocals, a big groove, choruses to sing-a-long, melodies and a classic rock sound in it that every rock fan will love!!! Songs such as "Dog From Hell", "Back In '76", the fast-paced "Into The Mud", "Driving In Style" (a song that must be played really LOUD!!!), the groovier and fun "Mexico" or "Ghosts" are some of the highlights here and songs that will make your day! Imagine something between Motorhead and heavier AC/DC and you'll get the picture of THUNDERMOTHER's sound.

Thundermother's newest opus, "Heat Wave", is a great record all the way. It's powerful, up-tempo, in-your-face must be played on maximum volume and will rock your shocks off! And in Thundermother's own words : "Thundermother don't just play rock'n'roll. Thundermother are rock'n'roll!"
