REVIEW : SHIRAZ LANE --- Carnival Days (Frontiers Music s.r.l., February 2018)

To be honest here, I was looking anxiously to listening this one! The first sample of Shiraz Lane's newest album, "Harder To Breath", that was released in October 2017, left me hungry for more. Punchy, energetic as hell with a huge chorus line to sing-a-long "Harder To Breath" sounded big and promising that the new Shiraz Lane effort would be great.

Finally, I have Shiraz Lane's new album, "Carnival Days", in my hands and after the first spin I have to say that it's better, bigger and catchier than the debut in every way. This time the band collaborates with the Swedish producer Per Aldeheim (Def Leppard, Soilwork, Lambretta) and as far as I'm concerned the new disc really smokes. As I already mentioned above, the final result is a step forward regarding the solid debut and that means better songs, louder guitars, catchier hooks n' choruses and an overall tighter and more mature sound.

The opener tune of "Carnival Days" is just excellent; groovier with an early Aerosmith-esque 'air' and a loud chorus line this track is simply breathtaking all the way. Next, we have the heavier "The Crown" which recalls Skid Row's earlier days while in "Harder To Breath" we have a clear winner!! I said it above but I have to say it again, this one rocks big, big time!! We are talking about a monster melodic hard rock song that includes a killer hook and, of course, a killer chorus line. The anthemic "Tidal Wave", the sleazier "People Like Us", the commercial "War Of Mine" and the ultra catchy "Shot Of Life" are great samples of Shiraz Lane's ass-kickin' music.

Shiraz Lane is back in business with their new album "Carnival Days" and they are loaded with their high-energetic rock 'n' roll thing ready to blow up your speakers!!!

Rating : 8,8/10
