REVIEW : Sweet Mary Jane – Winter In Paradise (2017)

Sweet Mary Jane is a new band that consists of some well-known musicians such as Tomas Nässlin (ex, Roulette), Per Olof Åsberg (ex-Airborn) and young talents Alexander Olsson (ex-Anacondah) and Andreas Sparby (ex-L.A.C.K.).

Lars Chriss of Lions Share is responsible of the band's debut with the title “Winter In Paradise”.

Sweet Mary Jane's sound can be described as hard AOR and includes powerful vocals, 'crunchy' and melodic guitars and of course memorable choruses that makes the final result very attractive for every melodic fan out there.

"No Retreat No Surrender" is the first highlight here. Edgy AOR stuff with a powerful chorus line that sticks into your mind and a fabulous guitar work. "Winter In Paradise" and "Madeleine" are two more great samples, harder edged, of Sweet Mary Jane's music. "Carry On" has this sweet late 80's AOR vibe in it and the mid-tempo "Angel Of Mine" is among my favorites from the debut. "Surrender" includes a nice and heavier riffing in it, a brilliant harmony and a chorus line to sing-a-long for days. The up-tempo and 'faster' "Don't Be Too Late", which closes this debut, is yet another killer melodic hard rock gem!!!!

All in all this is a great melodic hard rock/edgy AOR stuff that will be a future favorite for every melodic rock fan out there. So keep an eye on Sweet Mary Jane's debut record you won't be disappointed!!!!!
