REVIEW : JAILCAT / Men Or Mice (2015)

Jailcat is a Greek hard rock band that after an almost a decade of presence in the Greek scene is ready to unleash its debut album with the title "Men Or Mice". The band has already released an EP, in 2010, from which the single "Here To Stay" grabbed the attention of many radios and press magazines internationally, and participated in many live gigs.

Nowadays, Jailcat along with Grammy-nominated producer Chris Tsangarides (Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Ozzy, Gary Moore etc) is ready to make the next big step with this debut release. The sound of "Men Or Mice" can be described as Hard Rock which has its roots to the classic hard rock scene of the late 80's but with a more modern approach. It's powerful, in-your-face, all of the songs here are tight with solid arrangements, the hooks and choruses are memorable and includes an overall strong guitar work. The production is also very very good and gives the extra kick to the final result.

Right from the start, "Addicted To Lies", the band shows its attentions to deliver powerful hard rock music with attitude. "Speak My Mind" is just killer!! One of the best modern hard rock songs that I've heard this year; it includes a monstrous groove, great arrangements, some in-your-face vocals and a superb guitar work!! Great stuff!! "When Patience's Gone" and "For The Last Time" are both strong rockers that must be played at maximum volume! Another true highlight out of this debut is the excellent mid-tempo rocker, ala Nickelback, "Burning Pictures".

Excellent debut album by Jailcat, no doubt 'bout that! This 10-track record grabbed me from the first spin and left me hungry for more! Jailcat with "Men Or Mice" set the bar high for even bigger things in the near future!
