YOUNGBLOOD / NO RETREAT (2012)

Did you miss bands such as Steelheart and Slaughter? Are albums like "Tangled In Reins" and "Stick It To Ya" among your favorites? If yes, then Youngblood's "No Retreat" is your album definitely  But let's see a couple of things about these guys. After singing a deal with Epic Records, the band has entered the studio, in 1989, to record their debut.



But they couldn't imagine that this little gem would see the light of day after all those years. This band had everything to become America's next top hair metal band!! They had an incredible talented singer who reminds the great Mike Matijevic (Steelheart) and Mark Slaughter, very good songs, a huge guitar sound with some inspired riffs and solos and a tight as hell musicianship!! Now that I'm listening to this awesome release I'm wondering what could happen if this album had been released back then???

From the first song, "Pump It Up", you can hear the Steelheart's influences but also their mood to party and to Rock 'n' Roll all night long!!! A huge chorus line, great performances and some incredible guitar work make this tune a highlight!!!! "Love Is All Around" is another winner!!!! Soaring vocals a feel good vibe and sleaze to the bone lyrics!!! Other highlights are the "Get Down To It", "Heat Of The Passion", "Shot Of You" and "Don't Play With My Head". A few fillers here don't bother me at all!!!

All in all, this is a great hair metal record! It has passion, attitude, great tunes, a high skilled shouter and some incredible guitar work!!! A must have for every hair metal maniac out there!!!!
