TESLA / Twisted Wires & The Acoustic Sessions... (2011)

California rockers TESLA are back with their new album titled "Twisted Wires & The Acoustic Sessions...". In fact, this album doesn't contain all new material, except of two new tracks. It's about an album which includes acoustic remakes of songs from TESLA's entire catalog and two brand new songs, "Second Street" and "Better Off Without You". In their hey days, Tesla were one of the hottest names in the hard rock scene back in the 80's, early 90's. Albums such as "Mechanical Resonance", "Psychotic Supper" and "Bust A Nut" are all classics and a perfect example of pure U.S. Hard Rock stuff! Their last full album was "Forever More" in 2008 and it was a great album all the way. "Forever More" sold more than 16,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 33 on The Billboard 200 chart.

So, nowadays, and "Twisted Wires; The Acoustic Sessions... " comes to remind us of how great this band is. It, also, reminds us that this band has such a strong musicianship and their givin' heart and soul when they recording an album? The CD, features six tracks that were recorded back in 2005 at bassist Brian Wheat's J Street Recorders studio — which also serve as the last recordings with original member Tommy Skeoch — and six newly recorded tracks, including acoustic remakes of songs from TESLA's earlier hits and, as I mentioned above, two brand new tunes, "Second Street" and "Better Off Without You".  As you all assumed, this album is a kinda of compilation release. I can't say that I'm a fan of compilations, except, maybe, if they include some unreleashed stuff. But this one is more than a compilation, it has all of the attitude and nerve and ot shows that Tesla is a great band plugged in or unplugged!

The two new tunes are both superb and both tracks are showing that Tesla still got it! I only hope that their next record will sound like these two. Both are mid-tempo rockers with nice melodies and strong chorus lines, especially "Second Street".

All in all, this is a great release all the way! For the fans of Tesla is a must have, no doubt about that. For the younger ones is a great opportunity to discover a great band!
