REVIEW : Strangerland – Echoes From The Past (Rel. Date: 30 June 2023, Label: Lions Pride Music)

Strangerland is a Greek AOR band/project that is fronted by Alex Patman from Athens ,Greece. The original name of the band was STRANGER but due to of many bands had the same name, LAND was added and STRANGERLAND was born!!

Patman had some demos and songs both in English and Greek and the last thing was to find the members of the band. David Cagle (JK Northrup, LastWorld, Silent Tiger) was the right man to handle the vocals and with the addition of Mike Wikman and Chris Zoukas the band took flesh and blood. 

After a couple of spins of "Echoes From The Past" I have to say that I really enjoyed this opus a lot. The music here is a time capsule that travels us back in the mid 80's and it's movin' to the classic paths of pure AOR, Westcoast. Beautiful melodies, clever arrangements and some harmonies enough to die for are the ingredients of this effort. Highlights are the great and up-beat opener of "Whenever It Rains", the classic AOR tunes of "Until My Heart" and "Summer Nights", the beautiful and very emotional ballads of "Scent Of A Rose" and "Time" and the edgier tune of "Follow Your Dreams".  

I think that Lions Pride Music with Strangerland hit right into the bull's eye and released an album that will make all the fans of classic AOR / Westcoast scene very very happy!!
