REVIEW : TABOO, Taboo (Frontiers Music s.r.l. Release: 9 September 2022)

TABOO is a new project that consists of vocalist Christoffer Stjerne, who also fronts the band H.E.R.O., and guitarist Ken Hammer, who rock fans around the world will recognize him as a founding member of the beloved hard rock legends Pretty Maids.

The new self-titled debut opus will see the light of day this September through Frontiers Music. Taboo's album was self-produced and engineered, mixed and mastered by the Danish metal legend Jacob Hansen (Pretty Maids, Volbeat, etc.).

As for the music here I would say that TABOO's music is a great mix of Euro-hard rock, modern melodic metal with a more updated air that will attractive the rock in general. The strong point is also the fantastic voice of Stjerne who gives an extra 'push' to the final result. Of course the guitar 'licks' of Hammer are very enjoyable as always. 

The fantastic modern power heavy pop anthem of "Learning To Breath" is absolute killer!! "Demons" and "Flames" are modern, heavy and in-your-face and must be played on maximum volume while "Powerless" is yet another very interesting track with its alternative pinches. Other highlights of this debut are "It's About Time", the amazing cover "See You Again" and the emotional "Daydream". 

For sure one of this year's biggest surprises so far!! Ken Hammer and Christoffer Stjerne achieved to create a great and exremely enjoyable modern rock opus that will make your day!!! Highly recommended!!
