REVIEW : Monument --- Hellhound (ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records, May 2018)

The amazing classic metal band of Monument strikes back with its brand new opus entitled "Hellhound". This is the band's already third album and consists of nine pure and old-fashioned metal tracks that the sure thing is that will please each and every fan of the classic British metal sound.

The digipack as well as the deluxe edition (box set) of "Hellhound" will include three bonus tracks for your ear pleasure only!!

Peter Ellis -the voice of MONUMENT- comments: "Hellhound is, in my opinion, the best album we have released so far in our career. The song writing is a lot more mature on this album and the songs are very cohesive. Musically, it is the natural progression of Hair Of The Dog, with lots of twin harmonies, loud lead bass tones etc.Another big step up was the inclusion of Tony Newton to the team as our producer, which played a very big part in finally being able to capture the real sound of the band on tape and it is something we have always wanted to do."

"William Kidd" is the track that opens this new album, (and the lead single that will be released on April 27th, as a limited to 500 copies 7” single featuring “Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll” - Rainbow Cover), and what a great tune it is!! For sure, it brings back the glory days of NWOBHM with style. For the fans of this scene, this song is a must hear! "Death Avenue", "Nightrider" and "Hellhound" are all three superb samples of pure metal stuff that 'smell' early Iron Maiden from miles away. The twin guitar attack, the melodies, the arrangements and Ellis's passionate performances makes you wanna push the repeat button again and again!!!

Of course, the highlights don't stop here; check out, also, the ass-kickin' and epic tune of "Whells Of Steel", "Attila" and the more hard rocking tune of "Straight From The Heart". As for the bonus track, here we have the groovy and awesome rocker of "Creatures Of The Night" that includes a catchy as hell chorus line and the covers of "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" (Rainbow) and "Deja Vu" (Iron Maiden). Both covers are well-performed and stay very close to the originals and my advice is to go and buy the digipack edition!!!!

Closing, I have to say that Monument is a band that stay true to its roots (NWOBHM) and with "Hellhound" achieves to release a hell of a record that will make proud each and every fan of the classic metal sound!!! Buy or die!!!! No new 'tricks', no modern sound just pure n' old fashioned metal baby!!!

Rating : 8,8/10
