Back in 2015, I reviewed an extremely interesting album from a band called De La Muerte (a rock band charmed by the Mexican "Nuestra Señora de la Santa Muerte" cult). That was a damn fine and very powerful album that grabbed me at once and left me hungry for more! Nowadays, the band strikes back with the brand new "Venganza" record.
After the release of their self-titled debut album (for Bakerteam Records), they promoted their music sharing the stage with great artists and bands including: Exodus, Therion, Russell Allen, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Circus Maximus , Taake, Blaze Bayley, Vision Divine, Kaledon, Astra and more.
After the intense intro of "Theme Of Revenge", it comes the real thing; "De La Muerte" kicks-off with a hungry n' heavy riff and explodes into a modern metal beast ready to rip out your heart!!! "Lady Death" is a more straight-forward heavy rocking song (imagine something close to Adrenaline Mob) while in the moodier "The Last Duel" the band delivers probably one of their best moments. Moody, darker and evil "The Last Duel" kicks some asses!
"Gambling In Hell" is yet another highlight out of this new album. This one rocks big time! The cinematic and 'dark' "Heart Of Stone" is a rather good one and "Death Engine" is another ass-kickin' tune.
All in all, this is a solid release by De La Muerte. Their Mexican style modern metal stuff is loaded with attitude, heavy riffs and lyricism and it's an overall strong purchase for those who want their metal a bit different.
Rating : 8/10
