REVIEW : Jim Jidhed / Push On Through (2017)

Jim Jidhed, the singer of the legendary AOR band ALIEN, is back in business with his 6th solo album which is entitled "Push On Through". This time Jim has the valuable help of Daniel Flores (The Murder Of My Sweet) who is doin' a damn fine job regarding the production making the final result a pleasant and very enjoyable ride all the way!!!

The sound recalls to the ALIEN days but with an updated sound and in a more edgy way. The voice of Jim Jidhed sounds stronger than ever and his powerful and emotional performances are the cherry on top.

Songs such as the opener "Glorious" (which is simply breathtaking), the AOR-ish "Push On Through" and the 'edgy' "If We Call It Love" are all three superb samples of pure melodic rock/hard rock bliss at its best. With "The First Time" we have another winner here; more laid-back but with a really huge melody this track set the nominate for one of the best tracks of 2017 (and we are still in 2016)!!!! The ballad "Too Many Words" is a very beautiful and emotional song while in "Love Was Waiting" we have one more highlight out of "Push On Through".

At this point, I have to say that in this record except Jim Jidhed we, also, find Ken Sandin (Alien) playing the bass and guitars performed by Michael Palace and Philip Lindstrand.

All in all this is a top class melodic rock/hard rock album with plenty of melodies to die for, a great production and most of all Jidhed's superb vocal lines. Highly recommended!!!!

Rating : 9,5/10
