REVIEW : BAND OF BROTHERS (SE) / Band Of Brothers (2015)

Let me start my review by saying that Band Of Brothers can easily be the next big thing from Sweden! Yes, I'm not over reacting here; these Swedes are delivering great, up-tempo and old-fashioned hard rock with attitude and smoking guitars that grabs you at once and leaves you hungry for more!

It all started out as a song writing experiment between bass player Ulf Nilsson and singer Christer Nilsson, with some 20 plus demos sent back and forth from Ulf’s home in Gothenburg and Christer’s home in the small mid-Swedish town of Ljusdal. Soon, guitar player and producer Jocke Nilsson got involved, improving the songs and adding exquisite guitar work. When drummer Tobbe Jonsson joined the ranks, the pre-production phase ended and the actual album was recorded.
With Ulf in Gothenburg, Christer in Ljusdal and Jocke and Tobbe both in Stockholm, it has taken quite some time to get the album finished.

So, the debut album is finally a reality and as I already mentioned above, these Swedes have the whole package to make some noise in this particular scene. Every single song here is a candy in my ear; a 'crunchy' guitar sound with some really excellent riffs and solos, very good vocals, songs that stuck in your head for days and an overall solid production are things that make this debut record a very enjoyable ride through Band Of Brothers world.

Seriously, this band achieves to mix perfectly the 80's hard rock sound along with some bluesier pinches, a fresher approach and there you have a superb slice of Hard Rock stuff! Highlights here? Hmmm.... I think that every song here is a clear winner. Take for example the up-tempo rocker of "Digital Ghost", the brilliant bluesy ballad "Crystal Ball", the edgier "Life In The City" or the catchy as hell "Rush" and you'll discover a great band that stays true to its roots and plays heartful and with attitude old-fashioned melodic hard rock!! One of the highlights for 2015 that will end-up high in my this year's Top Lists!
