REVIEW : SMOKING SNAKES, Danger Zone (Frontiers Music s.r.l. Release: 9 February 2024)

Smoking Snakes is a new Sleaze Hair Metal/Hard Rock band that is hailing from Sweden and "Danger Zone" is entitled its debut opus that is going to be released through Frontiers Music this February (9th).

In 2022, the band made a thunderous entrance onto the music scene, grabbing attention with a self-released demo that imporessed both fans and music press of this particular era. Their distinctive blend of powerful old-school edgy hair metal with a modern edge garnered acclaim, drawing inspiration from iconic artists such as W.A.S.P., Ratt, Dokken, and Kiss.

After the very first spin of the new opus, I have to say that I'm really enjoying a lot this slice of pure, aggressive and raw album. It's in-your-face with loud guitars, loud choruses and powerful performances that recalls bands such as W.A.S.P. and early RATT!!!! From the front cover to the last song, "Danger Zone" is an ode to the classic Hair Metal scene of the mid 80's, early 90's!!!

Songs like Sole Survivors, Lady Lucky, Excited, There Is No Tomorrow, Who Am I and Rocking To The Morning Light are all powerful, up-beat and ass-kickin' tunes that will bring you memories from a golden era when bands such as W.A.S.P., RATT and KISS ruled the airwaves.

All in all, this is an extremely interesting release that will please all the fans of the classic Sleaze Hair Metal scene and especially the fans of the early W.A.S.P. recordings!!

RATING : 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 🏆 (8 / 10)
