REVIEW : Hollywood Groupies / Bitchcraft (2014)

Hollywood Groupies is an Italian hard rock band that has already shared the stage with great bands such as Crucified Barbara, Vains of Jenna, Twisted Sister and Motorhead! After the release of their first full-length album, "Punched By Millions Hit By None" distributed by american label Demon Doll, the band released last year a new EP which is entitled "Bitchcraft".

The sound here is more or less based on the U.S Heavy Rock sound of the late 80's, filled with big riffs, melodic solos and some powerful and with attitude vocals. And even if this EP includes only four tracks, it is a great sample of pure heavy rock stuff made in an old-fashioned way. "Get It On" is really a blast; heavy with a 'punchy' sound, a Skid Row-esque sound in it and a cool chorus line. "Helter Jester" rocks good while the "The Empress" is another heavy tune that reminds, again, Skid Row's "Subhuman Race" era. "Sick Twisted Paradise" is a fast-paced rocker that includes a nice riffing and solid arrangements.

Pretty impressive mini-album from Hollywood Groupies, no doubt 'bout that! This band has potentials for bigger things in the near future. Ass-kickin' heavy rock stuff with a late 80's, early 90's vibe in it that makes "Bitchcraft" an overall interesting release.
Rating : 8/10
