KALEDON / Antillius: The King Of The Light (2014)

A year and a half after the release of the solid 'Altor: The King's Blacksmith', Kaledon are back with their new album 'Antillius: The King Of The Light'. 'Altor: The King's Blacksmith' was a powerful record and included some well-crafted songs, high-pitched vocals and screaming guitars.

The new album, after the first spin, sounds bigger. Yes, the production is big and fat and the songs are better, in my humble opinion. Of course,  'Antillius: The King Of The Light' is moving in the same power metal paths as in the previous release, but I have the feeling that KALEDON took the final result a step higher!

"The Calm Before The Storm" is the first highlight here; epic, powerful and loud with a catchy chorus line and a strong dose of melody and some impressive ass-kicking drum work that grabs you and leaves you hungry for more. Check, also, the guitar solo, it's breathtaking. Classic power metal stuff at its best. Other strong moments here are the very Helloween-esque "New Glory For The Kingdom", the 'rockier' and my personal favorite "The Party" and "My Will".

These guys can for sure deliver some serious ass-kickin' epic power metal stuff, no doubt 'bout that!  'Antillius: The King Of The Light' is very good sample of good, and in and old fashion way, epic power metal that can't be missed by any fan of this scene.
