From The Fire is a band that with only one album in 1992,
the excellent album "Thirty Days Dirty Nights", managed to make some
noise in the melodic hard rock community. So, after two decades and
somethin’ more, these US hard rockers return to the scene of the crime more
mature, more melodic and with enough inspiration to offer another solid album.
This time,
the new album is influenced by bands such as Drive She Said, Crown of Thorns and House Of Lords but mainly has a strong ‘touch’ from the great Jim Jamison
(Survivor) which can be heard in tunes like "Leave Me Alone", "In Your
Dreams" and "Liar".
Other
highlights here are the epic title track (Evil
Man Do), where the performance and the passion of JD Kelly is simply exciting!! The same goes for the great tune of
"Never Be Lonely". Check
out, also, the beautiful ballad "Stagefright
(Some Kind Of Dream)" which stands
out more for the impressive guitar solo of Tommy
Lafferty (which brings back memories from D. Gilmour), and the mid-tempo
"Blame It On The Moon ".
Closing, I have
to say that "Evil Men Do"
manage to turn us back to the late 80’s, early 90’s, where music wasn't needing effects but only melody, a charismatic voice, well-played guitars and a bunch of good songs. Highly recommended!
