JACKYL / BEST IN SHOW (2012)

It's been already twenty years since the band's eponymous debut album which was a damn fine piece of kick-ass hard rock sound. So, nowadays, and Jesse Dupree and his gang are back with a brand new effort with the title "Best In Show".

I have to say that this album is, imho, the best since their debut. Jackyl was always a band that stayed truly devoded to its roots. Its sound was, is, a mix of AC/DC, Ted Nugent with some southern but, also, some bluesier elements as well. Highlights here are the brilliant and ultra-catchy stripper-rocker "Encore (It Makes My Big Dig Her)", the more straight forward "Screwdriver" and the groovier "Golden Spookytooth". The cheesy with a great sense of humor lyrics were always the strongest points of Jackyl; also the southern pinches and the big 'fat' attitude are givin' the extra 'flavour' to the album's final result.

Overall, this is an extremely interesting release from these veterans of hard rock. It's 'dirty', cheesy, sexy but, most of all, is a hard rock album that it must be played loud!!!!!
