After the solid "Cadence" album, David Reece and Bangalore Choir are back with the band's brand new "Metaphor". The fact is that Bangalore Choir have a special place in my heart with their debut "On Target". This album is among my all time favourite records and it's the perfect example of huge hair metal/pop metal stuff. In my humble opinion, this band had it all back then to become big rock stars but 'cause of the so-called 'grunge revolution' they didn't had their chance!
So what are we going to expect from this new one Bangalore Choir album? Nice riffing and soloing, a tight musicianship, great harmonies and melodic lines but most of all Reece's over the top performances. This guy has a strong vocal range that it's shown every time he is singing. "Metaphor", also, features some collaboration between Reece and his long time friends Rikard Quist, who contributes to the tracks "Silhouettes On The Shade" and "Scandinavian Rose", and Jon Wilde (Reece-Kronlund project). As David Reece told me in his interview , a few months ago,: "with this record you'll hear some of the 'on target' melodies as well as 'cadence' sounds" he was tellin' excactly the truth!!! "All The Damage Done" which opens the album, has a nice groove and an 80's feeling while "Trojan Horse" could be easily appeared in the "On Target" album. One of the album's highlights which features a strong chorus line. "Silhouettes On The Shade" is another great tune! It has a feel-good vibe, nice arrangements and great harmonies! After these three tracks, I got the feeling that this is a great album all the way. The title track is ok and "Don't Act Surprised" is a very good rockin' tune! The big surprise here comes with the "Never Trust Ole Joe Alone"!! This is an acoustic 'dirty' bluesy song that gives the extra flavour to the album's final result!!!! The rest of the tracks are, also, well-performed with good arrangements and Reece's powerfull performances.
Bottom line is that Bangalore Choir are back with another solid album that will make happy every single band's fan. It has the right attitude, well crafted songs, good production and most of all David Reece's superb vocal performances! Well done!
