This is a very interesting release for this German/Italian act. The band consists of the mighty Michael Ehré, who is well-known for his work with Metalium, Firewind and Uli Jon Roth, Christian Stöver and Stefan Ellerhorst on guitars, Jan Manenti on lead vocals and Jogi Sweers on bass. LOVE.MIGHT.KILL plays melodic metal with huge melodies, heavy guitars, memorable choruses but, also, some modern hard rock elements. Michael Ehré's production and MARKUS TESKEs mix (SAGA, VANDEN PLAS, SPOCKS BEARD) underwrite the fact that LOVE.MIGHT.KILLs debut-album will convince all melodic-metal-maniacs all around the world.
Firstly, I have to say that I'm really impressed of Jan Manenti's vocals. This guy has an extremely powerfull soaring voice and achieves to give the extra something to the band's sound. Opener "Tomorrow Never Comes" starts with a monsterous guitar riffing, a groovy drumming and some really impressive vocal lines. A great starter and a perfect example of what's coming up next in "Brace For Impact". "Calm Before The Storm" is another heavy track while "Pretty Little Mess" shows the band's classic hard rock influences from band's such as Whitesnake and Rainbow. This track is probably one of the album's highlights and my personal favourite. "Caught In A Dream" and "Brace For Impact" are both very good hard rockers with nice arrangements and great guitar work. Another highlight is "We Are The Weak", this is a mid-tempo rocker with a huge melody, a catchy chorus and an amazing guitar riffing. Excellent! "Down To Nowhere" is a typical Euro-Metal tune in the vain of Masterplan and Allen-Lande's recently works. "Pray To Your God" has a modern, darker vibe in it and "Reach Out" is a commercial hard rocker with great hooks and a brilliant guitar solo.
Bottom line is that this is a great debut album for Love.Might.Kill. It features some great tracks, a tight musicianship, big melodies, superb guitar work, a 'fat' production and a very talented shouter! The band put heart and soul and the final result will please every single fan of Euro Melodic Hard Rock/Metal sound. A must have!
