House Of Lords were always a kinda of super-group. With high-skilled musicians on their roster, their albums contained some quality melodic hard rock stuff. Albums like their eponymous self-titled, 'Sahara' and 'Demons Down' are all classics in every hard rock fan out there. 'Cause of the grunge situation the band took a long break and returned with the 'Power And The Myth'. An album that confused the die-hards. After this, 'World Upside Down' came to rock our world with its amazing power and melody. Two more solid releases after that and nowadays James Christian and his boys are back with "Big Money" to show us that this band is still alive.
Firstly, I have to say that James Christian's voice is on top form, once again! Jimi Bell's riffs and solos are stunning. This guy gave to the band the 'extra' something with his brilliant playing. And last but not least the band sounds tighter than ever. The songs are all well-crafted with power and good harmonies. The sure thing is that this one is not better than "World Upside Down", albums like that are written once in a lifetime. "Big Money" is an overall good hard rock album, it has all the elements of the band's two periods and the result will please every single fan of House Of Lords! Highlights here? I think that most of the tracks are good! The 80's huge opener "Big Money" is simply stunning, the breathtakin' rocker "First To Cry" has a catchy as hell chorus line, "The Next Time I Hold You" is an emotional ballad and probably one of the best slower tracks that House Of Lords has ever recorded. Other highlights here are "Blood", "Seven" and my personal favourite "Searchin''".
Bottom line is that House Of Lords did it again and delivering a solid Melodic Hard Rock effort full of catchy choruses, amazing guitar work and a tight musicianship. The only low point here is the average production.
Track List :
01 - Big Money, 02 - One Man Down, 03 - First To Cry, 04 - Someday When, 05 - Searchin', 06 - Living In A Dream World, 07 - The Next Time I Hold You, 08 - Run For Your Life, 09 - Hologram, 10 - Seven, 11 - Once Twice, 12 - Blood
