interview with GRAND DESIGN's singer Pelle Saether!

GRAND DESIGN is a new band which achieved to rock our worlds last year with their superb "Time Elevation" debut album! An album which combined the pure 80's sound with a 'fresh' air! A big Def Leppard sound in the whole album but that don't bother at all 'cause this album rocks big time!

Pelle Saether is the lead singer of GRAND DESIGN and a man who is in the rock business for a quite long time. He is also involved with several bands as a producer. So, what about you are going to read is an interview that Pelle gave to Heavy Paradise and talked about "Time Elevation", Def Leppard, Firefest and of course about GRAND DESIGN's new album!! Enjoy!
Heavy Paradise :  Hello Pelle! It's really great that we have you here in Heavy Paradise for this interview!

P.S. : Thanx alooooot - thanx for having us here!!!

Heavy Paradise : I' ve seen that you have performed live in FireFest? What's your experience from that live?

P.S. : From FireFest we learned alot. We need more time before to fix all our equpiment and stuff + we started 12 o´clock - veeery early for rokkers but the place was packed!!!!

Heavy Paradise : You are not a new guy in the hard rock scene! You were involved in several things during your carrer. Can you tell me some things about yourself?

P.S. : Well I have been around for awhile - been in numerous bands and projects. Also I record and produce bands in my own studio "Studio Underground Sweden" Music is my life - I breath it every day + scuba diving!!!!! Good for your soul - hehehe

Heavy Paradise : Can you tell me a few things about the creation of Grand Design?

P.S. : It all started as a project with me and Peter on guitar. Later n we told ourselves - hey why not record this for real - and s we did. Live drums + bass + ne mre guitar and suddenly we were a band. We were lucky getting a Metal Heaven wanting t release our songs - rest is history

Heavy Paradise : Last year you have released a great album. "Time Elevation" received some great reviews from all over the net! How do you feel about that?

P.S. : Im veeeeeery happy both rokkers and reviewers seem to really like our album.
We didnt expect all this fuzz about us and the album - so we are veeery happy rokkers :-) Our goal was to release an album in style, s0und as it was made in the 80s - I think we came pretty close..

Heavy Paradise : The sound of the album reminds me a lot of the early Def Leppard sound!! Personally, I don't have a problem about that, I grew up with the Leps. Except of the Leps, which are your influences?

P.S. : Well Influences frm the era of 80s rock are many: Journey, Kansas, Foreigner, TNT, Europe, Scorpins. I love all these bands - the really made my days during the 80s

Heavy Paradise : What's your favourite tune off the album?

P.S.: I have a few - but to pick out one it must be - No Time For Love. A stadium rocksong w a epic beginning and a cool ending - just love that song. Also Piece of The Action is a favourite. Thats 2 songs - hehehe sooooooooooooorry ;-)

Heavy Paradise : During the last years a lot of new bands are releasing great melodic albums. Bands like Grand Design, HungryHeart, H.E.A.T., The Poodles, among others, are keeping the melodic hard rock flag high! How do you see today's melodic scene?

P.S. : Loads of Scandinavian bands are heading for 80s rock right now - I hope all those rokkers who were around in the 80s lend an ear to all these great bands coming out on the scene right now - performing the rock og the 80s

Heavy Paradise : What's the story with band's from Sweden? Every year from Sweden is a pleasant surprise as it concerns the very good bands/albums. Is there something in the water :-) ?

P.S.: Or in the booze - hehehe. Honest - I dunno We have alotta of great bands here in Sweden - the kids start palying in band very early and the are economical help for bands here - so maybe thats a couple of reasons
Heavy Paradise : If you were abandoned in a desert island, what would be the albums that you had to take with you?

P.S.: Boston - Boston , Kansas - Left Overture , Def Leppard - Hysteria , Journey - Best Of  and Whitesnake - 1987...

Heavy Paradise : How do you imagine yourself in 10 years from today?

P.S. : Hopefully still alive n kickin - hehe ..Hopefully working w music and hopefully stil scuba diving

Heavy Paradise : Are we going to have a new Grand Design album?

P.S. : Yes - I have started writing new songs . All in the same vein - hopefully album #2 is gonna be released october 2011 - keep your fingers crossed

Heavy Paradise : Any message to your fans?

P.S.: Thanx alooooooot all Grand Design fans all over the planet for your support - I hope to see you when we get to your hometown to Rawk The House Down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heavy Paradise : I would like to thank you for sharing these things with Heavy Paradise.
