Melodic hard rock lead vocalist Ted Poley has been a staple on the music scene for more than 20 years now! Beggining with classical piano training at a very early age and then moving on to drums and playing professionally at age 15 in the 3 piece rock band LUSH.
In 1984 he joined the very popular New Jersey band PROPHET and in 1985 they released their self titled debut album on total Experience/RCA Records. In addition to playing drums on the album, Ted sang lead vocals on "Listen To Ya" and co-sang on "Heart Of The Young" with Scott Metaxas.
While PROPHET was in pre-production for their follow up record, Bruno Ravel asked Ted Poley if he wanted to record some tunes, as demos, for DANGER DANGER! Ted loved the DANGER DANGER tracks and finaly left PROPHET to join DANGER DANGER as the lead singer.
On 1989 DANGER DANGER released their huge self titled album! The album peaked on the billboard top 200 chart and "Bang Bang" peaked at #38 on the billboard top 100 singles in the U.S. They headlined clubs through the U.S. and other parts of the world and toured as the opening act both U.S. & U.K. for KISS, Alice Cooper and Warrant through 1989 and 1990.
In 1991 they released "Screw It" via Sony music and it was an excellent piece of hair metal! It featured "Monkey Business" and "I Still Think About You" which were both big hits.
In 1993 they entered studio to record what was supposed to be their third effort "Cockroach". Ted parted ways with DD after "Cockroach" was completed.
In late 1993 Ted Poley formed a new band called BONE MACHINE that also featured current Tommy Lee guitarist John Allen III. With BONE MACHINE released the "Dogs" album in 1994. In 1995 they toured the U.K. and also released a live record "Search And Destroy" as well a one hour video called "Live And Duty Free In The U.K.". In 1996 it was time for their last album which was called "Disappearing Inc.".
Ted sang the theme for the character "Big The Cat" on the SEGA's "sonic the hedgehog" and then wrote the melody and lyrics for the sequel 'Sonic 2" ! He has gone on to write the lyrics and produce the vocals for several more Sega games.
In 2000 we saw Poley's return in a new band called Melodica that also featured Austrian native Gerhard Pichler on guitars. With MELODICA they released two studio albums and one live, "USAcoustica". After that, no longer known as melodica, they released a new cd called "BIG" as Poley/Pichler. "Big" features more great melodic rock tracks such as "Parachute" and "I Love You" among others.
With his music partner Vic Rivera, Ted released the very good album "Only Human". As a solo artist, Poley has released two albums, "Collateral Damage" and "Smile" and has done a lot of work with other artists and bands such as Jack Frost, Vic Rivera, JK Northrup and many more.
