Guardian / Fire and Love (1990)

This is a very good hard rock album. After their strong debut album in 1989, Guardian are back with this new one and with a new singer. Jamie Rowe (later in AdrianGale)  is the new lead singer and he is doin' an excellent job with his rough and strong voice. The musicianship is tight, the production is big, the guitar work from Tony Palacios is once again amazing but in my opinion something is missing from this album. I don't know what it is, maybe the lack of choruses? After all these years I still have this feeling. The album starts powerfull with "Power of Love", a song with a strong rhythm section and a nice chorus line. "Time Stands Still" is another one highlight of this album and my personal favourite. "Forever and a Day" is a track that could easily appeared in a Bon Jovi album and "Turnaround ' has an amazing and inspired intro-riff but the chorus line isn't what I expected! All in all this is a very interesting release from Guardian, and my personal favourite. A couple of fillers here don't bother me and maybe with some bigger choruse lines here this album could probably be one of the best of that era!
