Vince Neil / Exposed (1993)

This is an awesome album! I dare to say that this effort is probably Neil's best album to date. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of L.A.'s bad boyz Motley Crue. I just love every damn record that the boyz have released but this one is simply awesome. So lets take things from the start. In February 1992, Mötley Crüe parted ways with their lead shouter Vince Neil and then both sides issuing statements to each other! Mötley Crüe claimed that Neil was more interested in car racing and partying than the band's new music, and claims that Neil quit the band on his own accord. Neil claims that he was fired from the band, because he didn't approve of the band's new musical direction.

Neil had taken up indie racing a few years ago, often turning up at celebrity races. Neil enjoyed the sport so much, that he eventually formed Vince Neil Racing. Neil was racing in the Indy Lights open wheel developmental series at the time. Neil retired from racing in 1992 after crashing his car during a race in Long Beach after the third lap.

In 1992, he released his first solo offering, the single "You're Invited (But Your Friend Can't Come)" was featured on the Encino Man soundtrack. Neil quickly made a video for the song which featured a cameo by Pauly Shore. The video does not feature guitarist Steve Stevens (ex-Billy Idol) as Stevens was hired after the song and video had been released. Stevens re-recorded the song for Neil's first solo album.
"Exposed", was Neil's first solo album, and was released in 1993. An album full of energy, passionate performances, incredible guitar work by Steve Stevens, big production and some really catchy songs!!

"Look In Her Eyes" opens the album and it rocks hard while "Sister Of Pain " is another one fine example of U.S. heavy rock of early 90's. "Can't Have Your Cake", "Fine, Fine Wine " and "You're Invited (But Your Friend Can't Come) " are all anthemics with big sing-a-long choruses and some really cool guitar licks from Stevens. "The Edge" is the biggest surprise of the album as it's one of the heaviest tunes that Neil has ever recorded, a 'hell' of a track!!! "Forever " & "Can't Change Me " are both very good ballads.
All in all this is a great album from Vince Neil and a big must have, one of my favourite albums ever......
