REVIEW : GRAND, Grand (Frontiers Music s.r.l. Release: 21 October 2022)

Grand was formed in 2020 in the southern outskirts of Stockholm, Sweden. Vocalist Mattias Olofsson had always the will to release his own AOR project one day. In the fall of 2020, the stars finally aligned, when he came to know two fellow musicians who shared his passion for the AOR genre: guitarist and producer Jakob Svensson (Wigelius) and drummer Anton Martinez Matz. The trio joined forces soon after and Grand became a reality.

The result of this collaboration is a well-crafted AOR record that is heavenly influenced by classic bands such as FOREIGNER, STARSHIP, ALIAS, GIANT and THE STORM to name a few. Of course the 'old' elements are mixed perfectly with the 'new' AOR scene and the result is just pure ear candy. 

Higlights out of this debut are the 'classic' AOR opener "Caroline", the up-beat "Stone Cold", "Johnny On The Spot", the radio-friendly "Those Were The Days", the huge west-coast tune of "Once In A Blue Moon" and the edgier "Too Late" and "Ready When You Are". 

A really high-class Melodic Rock/AOR record that is played with heart, passion and the dream to become GRAND!!!! Highly recommended!!!
