REVIEW : Reckless Love, Turborider (AFM Records Release: 25 February 2022)

Finnish melodic hard rockers RECKLESS LOVE are back in music scene with their brand new opus entitled "Turborider". The new album is going to be released through AFM Records this February. Following a 4-year hiatus and just recently received gold awards for their first three albums in Finland, singer Olli Herman and his gang are now gearing up for their next move. 

"Turborider" is moving to the same and well-known 'paths' of the previous records, but this time with a more 80's themes! And that means more synth wave-infused rock 'pinches', more energy, a bit more modern and with a strong emphasis on 80s game worlds.

“We had a long break from recording and as the break got longer, the higher the threshold became to start working on new music, let alone publish it. Although it was clear that we always had the desire to continue our career, it felt like we needed to find a new perspective for our creative expression. We had to write “Outrun” to be reborn – and we did. This song showed us the way how to write the new album. “Outrun” is a beacon on our way to reincarnation”, Olli states.

After the first spin of this new Reckless Love effort, I have to say that I just loved it; it's modern, it's fresh, it's heavier, it's up-tempo (to be honest it doesn't get more up-tempo than this...) and it has this mid 80's video-game vibe in it as the cherry on top!! The band sounds tighter and better than ever and in "Turborider" you'll find some of the best tunes that this band has ever recorded. 

It's really difficult to pick some of the songs as highlights as every single tune stands on its own. It's like a stroy that you don't want to stop and you have to listen it all over again! But, if I had to pick some tracks as favourites, those would, for sure, be "Like A Cobra", "Eyes Of A Maniac", the breathtaking "Outrun", the ultra melodic "For The Love Of Good Times", "Future Lover Boy", and the pop-ish "Sparkle"!!! 

Closing here, I have to say that RECKLESS LOVE overcame themselves and delivered a simply amazing record!! They could write another typical sleaze-hard rock record but hell no; they decided to took a more 'different' path and with their classic sound together they released this huge opus !!!! Reckless Love are ready to take us a ride through the 80's video game world with their turborider......all board!!!
