The voice of HARDLINE and Axel Rudi Pell Mr. Johnny Gioeli is about to release his first ever debut album this December through Frontiers Music s.r.l., with the title "One Voice". Gioeli says about this debut : "One day, I just woke up and said ‘I wanna do this’. I’ve always been so faithful to the groups I’m in, and I remain that way, but I just thought it was time that I do something on my own and see how it goes, for the creativity and the freedom to express myself."
For this record Gioeli gathered some well-known musicians such as Eric Gadrix on guitars, Nik Mazzucconi on bass, Marco Di Salvia on drums and the 'mighty' Alessandro Del Vecchio on keyboards and releases a damn fine melodic rock album that the sure thing is that it will please each and every single fan of this scene.
A big portion of the money raised for this album through a crowd funding campaign is going directly to help a young man named Joe Barber. Joe needs help for his recovery from an accident last year that has left him paralyzed.
The opening tune of "Drive" is pure melodic rock bliss at its highest order. More in the latest Gioeli/Castronovo sound this track is pure ear candy. Melodic as it gets with a great chorus line "Drive" sounds like the perfect opener of what's to follow next. "It" is yet another interesting song. More laid-back but with a nice rhythm it grabs you with the first listen. The mid-tempo "One Voice" and the classic rocker of "Running" are both delicious samples of rock music at its best. The voice of Gioeli really shines in both tracks and you can hear the softer side of the artist, that is great as well as emotional. In "Hit Me Once, Hit Ya Twice" we are dealing with a harder edged and modern rock song. This is kinda reminds me of Hardline's "II" era. It also includes a damn nice guitar solo in it. Another highlight out of this debut is the Hardline-esque "Out Of Here".
The fact that Mr. Johnny Gioeli has one of the best voices out there is already well-known. The fact that with Hardline and Axel Rudi Pell has released some killer records is also well-known. The truth here is that Gioeli releases something different, something more laid-back and diverse than with his main bands makes this debut more attractive and more interesting.
