REVIEW : ATLAS --- In Pursuit Of Memory (AOR Heaven, 2018)

ATLAS is a new melodic hard rock band that hails from U.K and "In Pursuit Of Memory" is entitled its debut record that is gonna be released through AOR Heaven label this September. The band consists of  James Thorley (Keyboards, programming and percussion), John Moss (Lead Guitars), Howie Little (Lead Guitars), Chris Redfearn (Bass Guitar) and Craig Wells (Lead Vocals) and their first step was a solid EP, "World In Motion", which gained positive feedback from both fans and press.

It's been a couple of days that I received the promo of ATLAS and after a few, or a lot of.... (lol), spins I have to say that I really like this new opus. The sound is a mix between Work Of Art (edgier in some parts) and Dream Theater (in their more hard rocking era). The vocals are nice and passionate, the guitars heavy/melodic and features some excellent solos, the rhythm section solid and in general the final result is brilliant for a first full-length effort. The brilliant AOR-ish melodies along with some progressive 'pinches' make "In Pursuit Of Memory" a must purchase for every rock fan in general.

"Samsara", the edgy "Bad Habit", the amazing and up-tempo "Seasons Change" and the beautiful "Flesh And Blood" are some excellent samples of ATLAS's work. Superb arrangements, melodies to die for and some inspired guitar work are some of the ingredients of this young and so talent-full band. "As Time Goes By" is exactly what I've mentioned above. The band took the best elements of Work Of Art, the best of Dream Theater plus its own 'pinches' and at the end creates stunning music!!! For sure, "As Time Goes By" represents Atlas's music in the best way!!

Bottom line is that I'm really impressed by ATLAS newest opus. It's beautiful, it's melodic, it's technical and most of all it includes heart and soul and that reflects in each and every single moments here. These guys are here to stay and with "In Pursuit Of Memory" leaves a big promise for bigger things in the near future.
