REVIEW : SINNER -- Tequila Suicide (2017)

Even though Mat Sinner is a very busy man (Primal Fear, Voodoo Circle and many other projects), he always finds the time to release albums with Sinner. Back in 2013, SINNER re-released the already classic "Touch Of Sin 2" with some bonus material and nowadays the band is ready to unleash its brand new opus "Tequila Suicide".

Sinner is without any doubt one of the finest examples of pure hard rock/classic rock bands that came out of Germany with some excellent albums on their career that put them among the giants of the scene such as Scorpions and Accept to name a few.

This time, Mat Sinner teams up with Dennis Ward and the result of this strong collaboration is this very exciting new record. "Tequila Suicide" combines all the band's well-known elements of the past plus a new and more updated sound and the result will please each and every fan of Sinner. Numerous high class guest musicians Gus G (of Ozzy Osbourne & Firewind), Ricky Warwick (The Almighty, Thin Lizzy), Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear) and Pete Lincoln (Sailor, Sweet)) were contributing to SINNER's newest piece of work.

Pure and old-fashioned heavy rock stuff with style and a 'fresh' approach are the things that someone meets in "Tequila Suicide". As I push the play button, "Go Down Fighting" explodes and delivers a great up-tempo and fan rocker that must be played in maximum volume. The heavy riffing "Tequila Suicide" takes command next while with "Dragons" the band delivers another excellent and more straight forward rocker. The 'Celtic' "Battle Hill" is probably one of the best tunes out of the new record. Epic with a strong Thin Lizzy 'air' in it this one is simply breathtaking! "Sinner Blues" is a nice surprise here. Bluesy rock with a sweet melody in it that will make you love it at once. Beautiful stuff! "Why" and the classic "Gypsy Rebels" are two more great samples of pure SINNER!!! Ass-kickin'!!!!

Solid, powerful. old-fashioned and with a classic heavy rock sound in it "Tequila Suicide" comes to prove that SINNER has a lot more to offer to this scene!!! Be prepared.....SINNER are back to make some noise!!!

Rating : 8,5/10
